Individual Personal Subscriptions

Access for individual personal-use subscriptions is by user name and password.

Users undertake to ensure that the intellectual property rights of the copyright and the moral rights of the authors of the Materials are not infringed.

Users may access, search, view, and make single printed copies of individual chapters and/or articles for personal use and not for resale or distribution.

Users are guaranteed archival access for the Content to which they have purchased access.

Users are not allowed to:

Engage in systematic copying or downloading of the Materials or transmit any part of the Materials by any means to any unauthorized user.

Allow copies to be stored or accessed by any unauthorized user.

Make the Materials available in any form or any medium or create derivative works without the written permission of Indiana University Press.

Generate collections of the Materials or use any part thereof in multiple copies for group or class use without the written permission of Indiana University Press.

Alter, amend, modify, or change the Materials;

Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise alter software.

Indiana University Press reserves the right to withdraw the subscriber’s access to the Materials in the event of systematic breach of these conditions by any authorized user.

IU Press Online is supplied on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

Institutional Subscriptions

Sponsored by the National Information Standards Organization (NISO), SERU offers an innovative alternative to the increasingly costly and cumbersome practice of customer-by-customer site license negotiations between a library and a publisher. Libraries wishing to acquire access to Indiana University Press electronic products offered for sale on IU Press Online can forgo a traditional site license agreement and rely instead on the shared expectations set forth in the SERU statements of shared understanding.
