African Studies Collection

Indiana University Press is a major, internationally recognized publisher of books and journals in African studies. Our publishing program emphasizes the social sciences and humanities, but it is not strictly limited to these disciplines. IU Press publications are dedicated to exploring the richness, vitality, and vibrancy of life in Africa today. Current series include: African Epics, which gathers material from diverse traditional and contemporary oral sources; African Expressive Cultures, which highlights the variety of the expressive arts; African Systems of Thought, which surveys the intellectual, social, and philosophical landscape; and Global African Voices, which publishes works of original fiction in translation from African writers the world over. Indiana University Press publications have received the Herskovits Prize, the African Studies Association Text Prize, the Conover-Porter Award, and the Amaury Talbot Award.
